We celebrated Mother’s Day (Día de la Madre) by inviting about 200 local English- and Spanish-speakers to join us at the museum for a bilingual immersion-style scavenger hunt with funky hats, cool prizes, friends (new and old), and tons of incredible learning opportunities.
In attendance, we had dozens of men and women of all ages, along with their children, participating in a perfect activity for a rainy Saturday.
Participants formed teams (according to the color of their fedoras) and tackled the scavenger hunt, which we provided in English and Spanish (along with museum maps in the participants’ target language). Teams chose their own team name and team leader, and raced to find all of the museum’s hidden gems by working together in English and Spanish.
At the end of the morning, we gave out prizes to:
- the team that finished the scavenger hunt first (Los Salvajes! Congratulations!)
- participants who posted photos with the hashtag #iShareLingo
- all the moms in attendance (it was Mother’s Day, after all!)
- winners of a raffle
Prizes included a full scholarship for an entire ShareLingo level (10 sessions), tickets to Colorado Rockies games this summer, goodie bags filled with chocolate (because of the museum’s Chocolate-themed exhibit, finishing May 8), and a gift card to the Cheesecake Factory.
A huge thank-you to everyone who came to this historic event, as well as to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the Colorado Rockies. It is because of you all that we are able to have such awesome experiences and opportunities!

Why do YOU #ShareLingo?
The ShareLingo concept is really simple. Instead of learning from a white board or a computer, we help English learners meet Spanish learners for face-to-face practice together. A bilingual facilitator uses our method and materials to keep things moving so you are never bored. We have language learning solutions for individuals, businesses, non-profits, and schools.
